Frequently Asked Questions

Can you use different size sausages on the Rack ‘n Roll?

Yes, you can cook a wide range of sausages on the Rack ‘n Roll. It is preferable to cook sausages of the same size at any one time. This ensures that the rack is evenly balanced.

The bigger variety of sausages should not be larger than 40mm in diameter. If any larger, this will interfere with the rotation of the sausages on the skewers.

What is the best way to clean the Rack ‘n Roll?

Cleaning the Rack ‘n Roll is a very easy procedure. Simply soak it in warm soapy water. Then using a dish cleaning brush, scrub all the grease off the rack and the skewers. Allow to drip dry or dry off with a tea towel.

Alternatively, you can just put it in the dishwasher.

What is the best way to store the Rack ‘n Roll when not in use?

There is a hole in the handle which has been designed with the purpose of the Rack ‘n Roll been hung up on a hook, when it is not in use.

Otherwise it can simply be stacked on a shelf or in a drawer with the rest of your pots and pans. It is a very sturdy device.

Do you need to have round meat for kebabs on the Rack ‘n Roll?

Definitely not! You can simply place any form of diced meat onto the kebab and it will be fine. It is preferable that the meat cubes are of a similar size. The rolling action of the Rack ‘n Roll will simply “round off” the meat that has been used for the kebab.

How hot do the handles of the skewers get?

The handles of the skewers do get hot, more so when cooking kebabs rather than sausages, as they take longer to cook. The skewers will also get much hotter if used over the grill section of the BBQ because of more direct heat.

As stated and demonstrated in the Instructions on use of the Rack ‘n Roll, it is advisable to use a folded piece of paper towel when removing the skewers from the Rack ‘n Roll after cooking is completed.

We are currently looking into the availability of a heatproof resistant material to use on the handles of the skewers.

Can you use the Rack ‘n Roll on both the BBQ hot plate and the grill plate?

Yes, you can. Most people prefer to cook their sausages on the BBQ plate but kebab meat can taste much better if cooked over the grill plate.

Just remember, that when cooking over the grill plate, the handles of the skewers will get quite hot. Be careful when removing the skewers once cooking over the grill plate is completed.

Are you going to make a bigger version of the Rack ‘n Roll?

Not in the foreseeable future but I will keep it in mind.

In the meantime, buy another one!

Why does the Rack ‘n Roll have “wavy edges”?

This was designed as a means of keeping already cooked sausages warm while cooking another 8 sausages.

It works! Why don’t you try it out?

You will require another set of skewers in order to do this.

Once you have cooked your sausages, remove them from the rack but leave them on their skewers. Load the Rack ‘n Roll with another 8 sausages.

Place the cooked sausages back onto the rack, on top but in between the uncooked sausages. Rest the skewers into the bend of the wave.

Now you can Rack ‘n Roll, cooking more sausages and keep your cooked ones warm!
